Mixing Stainless Steel Fiber for Refractory Castables Introduction

Steel fiber castable ( high strength refractory castable ) is made from refractory aggregate, powder, binder, additive and steel fiber. The fibers generally used are in size varying between 0.1 to 0.4 mm² in cross-section & 20-40 mm in length, the addition of 2% by weight to the refractory materials is suggested. Steel fiber reinforced castable greatly enhanced tensile strength, thermal shock resistance level, wear resistance capacity and service life. So steel fiber refractory castable is very resistant to the tendency of material falling apart during thermal cycling compared with refractory castable which exhibits very low fracture strain levels when subjected to tension or bending. Stainless steel fiber castable is widely used in the high temperature wearable parts such as kiln eye, feed opening, the wearable pier and the lining of power plant boiler.
