High Alumina Bricks Description
High alumina bricks can be further divided into ordinary high alumina brick, high refractoriness under load high alumina brick, low creep high alumina brick, phosphate bonded high alumina brick, micro expansion high alumina brick, etc. RS has over 20 years of manufacturing experience of all kinds of high alumina refractory bricks applicable for different kilns and furnaces of different industries.
High Alumina Bricks Category
Ordinary high alumina bricks
Ordinary high alumina bricks main mineral compositions are mullite, corundum and glass phase. The higher the Al2O3 content is, the larger the mullite and corundum percentage will be ,so the glass phase will decrease, the refractoriness and high temperature properties of high alumina brick will be improved. Ordinary high alumina bricks have much better refractoriness and application effect. High alumina bricks are widely used in all kinds of high temperature kilns and furnaces. High alumina bricks can effectively prolong kiln’s service life compared with clay fire brick.
High refractoriness under load high alumina bricks
High alumina bricks with high refractoriness under load, differ in base material and bonder types from ordinary high alumina bricks. Base materials are added with high alumina materials such as corundum, high alumina corundum and so on to make sure the sintered materials have a chemical composition approaches theoretical mullite composition. The bonder adopts first class ball clay, clay compound or mullite in accordance with bricks kinds . Through these methods, the refractoriness under load can increase 50-70℃.
Low creep high alumina bricks
Low creep high alumina bricks are produced by adding corresponding minerals, activated alumina and so on to make the chemical composition close or equal to mullite, which will increase mullite content, decrease glass phase ratio. Because of mullite excellent mechanical and thermal characteristics, high alumina bricks’ high temperature properties are enhanced greatly. Low creep high alumina bricks are usually used in hot blast furnaces, blast furnaces, etc.
Phosphate bonded high alumina bricks
Phosphate bonded high alumina bricks take dense supreme class or first class high alumina bauxite clinker as main material, phosphate solution or phosphate aluminum solution as bonder. After semi-dry mechanical pressing, phosphate high alumina bricks green bodies are thermal treated in 400~600℃ temperature. Phosphate high alumina bricks belong to unburned refractory bricks, to avoid shrinkage during application, thermal expansion materials such as kyanite and silica are added in raw materials. Compared with sintered ceramic bonded high alumina bricks, phosphate bonded alumina bricks have better anti spall property but lower refractoriness under load and lower corrosion resistance ability. So, a small part of fused corundum or mullite should be added to enhance base material. Phosphate bonded high alumina bricks are widely used in rotary cement kilns, electric furnace and so on.
Micro expansion high alumina bricks
Micro expansion high alumina bricks use high alumina bauxite as main raw material, added with proper quantity and granularity of minerals (kyanite, andalusite and silimanite), produced by high alumina bricks production craft. To ensure appropriate expansion during use, sintering temperature should be strictly controlled to make certain part of mineral convert to mullite, the rest continue to convert into mullite during application and cause volume expansion. The compound minerals are better to be added in, because the decomposition temperature of the minerals are different and the expansion of mullite is different, too. Thus ,high alumina bricks will have different expansion rate due to different working temperature. The joints of bricks will be compact and thus enhances lining integral compactibility and slag permeation resistance.
