There many types of glass furnace, such as sheet-glass tank furnace, horizontal flame fluid hole pool kiln and horseshoe flame fluid hole pool kiln. Refractory material used in glass furnace belongs to Al₂O₃、SiO₂、ZrO₂、MgO、Cr₂O₃ system. According to the principle of similar melting consistent, glass fluid has strong erosion of refractory brick ability, erosion is the main damage mechanism of refractory material used in glass furnace, when you choose the refractory material, the melting property of main chemical component in glass fluid is the primary consideration.
- Electrocast refractories material
(1). Fused materials containing ZrO₂
Fused cast zirconia corundum brick is the most important refractory material used in glass furnace.
- Sintered refractory material
(1). Siliceous refractory material
Silica brick is widely used in crown of glass furnace constructure owing to its cheap price and good creep resistance. Except the general performance, good silica brick used in glass furnace is special requested to reflect the true density of degree of quartz transportaion, reheating linear changing rate and silica oxide content and melt index, which influence the long-term high temperature performance.
(2). Basic Refractory material
Owing to the price of basic refractory material is far below the AZS material, high temperature property and widely used in making checker.
98,97 grade magnesia brick can be used in the topside of checker; 96-95 grade magnesia brick can be used in mirabilite zone, owing to the problems of chrome public hazard, there is the trend of direct-bonded magnesia chrome brick replaced by the magnesia zirconia brick. The main matrix composition of magnesia zirconia brick used in glass furnace is forsterite-baddeleyite, stress the improvement of SO2 erosion. This is different from magnesia-chrome brick used in cement kiln, the matrix composition is periclase, improve the resistance of material to CaO erosion.
(3). Neutral refractory containing zirconia
Sintered AZS brick can replace the fused cast AZS material in the parts, where the erosion is relatively mild, Anti crack type zircon brick used for transition materials AZS materials and siliceous materials,dense and high dense zircon brick used for fiber glass kiln is low and medium erosion parts.
(4) Tin bath refractory material
Tin bath bottom brick can adopt the ramming material or ultra-low cement vibration molding and clay material made by sintering method.
(5) Fireclay Refractory material
Clay brick is used in masonry the parts of slight erosion and don not touch with the glass fluid. Low porosity clay brick is used in masonry of low temperature checker brick; The clay brick of pool bottom preparation is similar to the tin bath clay brick。
3. Unshaped Refractory material
The bottom paving brick and clay brick should be filled by zirconia refractory or AZS ramming material.
4. Heat insulation refractory material
Except the parts with the worst erosion(pool wall three phase intersection, throat) need cooling, other parts of glass furnace need insulation measure, it has major meaning to prolong the life of crown. The insulation can adopt calcium silicate plate.
