Silica brick is a kind of refractory products with SiO2 content no less than 93%. Silica brick’s main raw material is silica ore containing more than 96% of SiO2, additives such as mineralizer and bonder are added into raw material during production. The production processes of silica brick are mixing, molding, drying and sintering. The higher SiO2 content is, the higher the refractoriness of the silicon brick is. Impurities such as K2O and Na2O will be harmful and decrease the refractoriness, Fe2O3, CaO and MgO play the role of fusing agent. So the raw material for high class silica bricks should be specially processed to remove the impurity.
Silica brick belongs to acidic refractory brick, has strong acidic slag or molten liquid corrosion resistant ability, but weak basic corrosion resistance. Silica brick is vulnerable to oxides such as Al2O3, K2O and Na2O, but have a good resistance to CaO, FeO and Fe2O3.

Rupture under load can reach to 1640~1680℃.
Good volume stability, will occur 1.5%~2.2% thermal expansion, when heated to 1450℃, which will ensure the structural strength and air tightness.

Silica Bricks Applications
Silica bricks are mainly used for the masonry of coke furnace’s carbonization chamber, combustion chamber and partition( silica bricks account for 73% of the refractory materials used in coke furnace), glass tank kiln top, tank wall, high temperature load bearing part of hot blast furnace, carbon furnace and so on. To enhance production ability of large scale coke furnace, the carbonization chamber, combustion chamber and partition of coke furnace should be thinner, so high density and high thermal conductivity silica bricks should be adopted.
Silica bricks have various models, by application they can be divided into coke furnace silica bricks, hot blast furnace silica bricks, electric furnace silica bricks, glass kiln silica bricks, etc. By dimension, silica bricks can be divided into standard, ordinary, special shaped silica bricks.
